About the museum
The house where entomologist Prince Aristide Caradja (1861–1955), honorary member of the Romanian Academy, lived and worked stands in the centre of Grumăzești within a small arboretum of centuries-old oaks, ash, hornbeam, chestnut and lime trees.
The house where entomologist Prince Aristide Caradja (1861–1955), honorary member of the Romanian Academy, lived and worked stands in the centre of Grumăzești within a small arboretum of centuries-old oaks, ash, hornbeam, chestnut and lime trees. Here he assembled his famous Lepidoptera collection, donated in 1944 to the 'Grigore Antipa' Museum in Bucharest. The single-storey manor with a wide terrace is a listed monument (NT-IV-m-B-10762). The estate has since returned to the heirs.
